Nikon isn't cheap, but it is good! The D610 has almost all the pro features at a low cost and light weight.

I am upgrading from an Nikon DX to FX so I know Nikon to be a manufacturer of excellent products. I like to capability to use a wide range of lenses from wide to normal to telephoto. The hard part is deciding what of the nearly infinite combination of settings is right for use. I mostly use aperture priority, auto focus, auto-iso. Great camera.Read full review

Great camera, but have it checked out by a technician before using it

A great camera all around, easy to use and great image quality, but with one caveat. In the middle of shooting a wedding, my D610 suddenly started corrupting some of the images. The bigger problem was that I didn't know it because all appeared to be fine on the screen. It wasn't until later in the day when I couldn't review many of the images I had shot earlier that I realized there was a problem. So in it went to Nikon, and it's been working great ever since. HOWEVER, the exact same problem happened with its DX sister camera, my D7100. It, too, has been fixed by Nikon at an almost identical price (they simply replaced the sensor units in both of them). I suspect it wasn't the sensor but a firmware issue, but in the process of replacing the sensor they updated the firmware as well. So, long story short, if you buy the D610, have a factory-trained Nikon tech give it a thorough check before using it. Mine's been doing great since I had it worked on. Read full review

Toss up as to weather I got my monies worth.

The Nikon 610 is a camera that has the same resolution as 35mm film. It is complicated and feature filled. Any of Nikon or Canon high end camera needs some study to use it properly. After buying this used camera I noticed the new price had come down and I wound up paying 75%of the new price. I like to buy electronics at 50% of the new price. This camera takes good photos. It is more than I need for it's purpose.Read full review

Tough camera. Great throwback to early Nikons.

A D610 will generally put a fair dent into your budget, especially if you buy a new one. Even a refurbished directly from Nikon will cost you around $1000.
If you want to point and shoot, this is far more camera than you should even consider.
If you want full-frame, still thinking in terms of 35mm cameras and the level of skill a photographer needs there, then this could be one for you.
It isn't the latest technology. It is quite recent. For the latest, consider the fact you'll be spending $2500 and upwards for not a lot more than this one offers.
It isn't a light camera. But it does far more than your simple D60 or D40, at considerably more money.
I like this camera as it gives a sense of throwback to my FA which I used regularly and at times heavily for some 30 years.
A very strong camera, well built, with plenty of bells and whistles for those wishing those things Otherwise appears to be a workhorse of a camera.
I didn't buy this for the lens that came with it, and it is a reasonable lens, but if you use such, you will need a tripod for certain at almost any exposure. No Vibration Reduction here. I replaced this one with a 70-300 AF VR lens. Much heavier, but a great lens.

Great Little Full-frame camera

Although the image size of the D610 is the same as from my D7100, the images from the D610 are noticeably sharper and the high ISO noise is almost non-existent even at 6400 ISO. I don't even worry about noise and have the camera set on auto-ISO and can then use Aperture Priority mode and not worry about the shutter speed dropping down so low as to induce blur from camera shake. The D610 is only a bit bigger and heavier than my D7100, which makes it a nice camera to hike with. I have yet to really put it to extended testing, but so far, so good.Read full review

GOOD VALUE FOR FULL FRAME CAMERA

The D610 is a nice full frame camera. It has pretty much what you will need than all the bells and whistles. It has some nice features that you will need. A good way to start full frame and grow. The price is worth buying. I don’t think you can go wrong. Unless your a pro you might want or need something a little different. Just get out there and shoot and enjoy the camera. So if you have a chance buy one and shoot your heart out. Read full review

D610 is excellent

I had two D750 since 2014 and I always found their picture more towards the softer side and color rendition not that good ....I thought I was doing something wrong (not taking the pictures correctly) untiI decided to try the D610.....i was really surprised....D610 pics were sharper and the color rendition was more accurate (more colors).....With D750 I had to play a lot with the camera settings to try to get somehow good pictures.

The only bad thing about D610 it was the low light shooting .....anything above 3200 ISO would make the picture quality somehow bad especially if the picture was taken without a flash ....while the D750 had an amazing low light picture even while shooting at 12,000 ISO.

If what you need is a camera which is amazing in low light , then grab the D750 ....if you need sharp pics, Beautiful color renditions , without any photography experience especially in normal lighting conditions , grab the D610 ....

D610

I was a little nervous taking this step... this is the grown up level. Of course I took it out of the box, charged the battery and just started using it, it is not my first nikon. It is pretty self explanatory, there were a couple of things I had to read about. The auto setting are different than my D40x, the lock on the settings knob being the first difference. This bundle is awesome, although I haven't used the large lens yet. The flash that comes in this kit doesn't have instructions and I am having a little trouble getting it to time correctly. At this point with the little bit that I have used the camera I feel like it is a good quality purchase.Read full review

Nikon D610

My first full-frame camera, and I love it. Gonna take me a while to learn to use all the features, but it has everything I need. I have to replace all my DX lenses, too. Really looking forward to getting some great astrophotographs.Read full review

Great camera and value

D610 is an excellent DSLR. The 24 MP image looks fantastic and the low light performance is very good to ISO 12800. Newer cameras have even better low light performance of course, but it's more than fast enough for me. The autofocus could be spread out more across the frame. But it's not a big deal. The auto focus system is still very good and if you use manual focus lenses a lot then it doesn't matter at all!Read full review
