Great little camera for casual use.
This seems to be a good little camera, but when compared to older models seems a bit light and cheap. Like most other old cameras it needed new light seals but they are cheap and easy to install. Two things I don't like is the led lights for metering. In bright sunlight they are hard to see. Also, like most FG's, the frame counter no longer resets to zero. The light seals crumble with age and fall into the gears inside. It still continues to work though and in program mode it is quick to use for point and shoot stuff.Read full review

Nikon FG Black
Camera arrived in amazing condition, as expected. Shutter is smooth, and all functions seem to work. The optional grip and less common black color really make this camera stand out. The light seals appear brand new. It's a camera that I can rely on.Read full review

Blown away..
I purchased this while keeping in mind that it was a camera geared more towards a average consumer. I already own/owned a Nikon F3, Canon T90, Canon EOS 3, EOS 630 & 650 but this thing is just astounding. The FG meters light so well, on my test roll I intentionally shot back lit subjects and gave it a variety of other lighting situations just to find the limitations of the metering system. It never faltered once on the whole roll and I never added any sort of + or - exposure compensation either. The shutter sounds great, the film advance lever has a short throw, the body still has a very solid construction too. This camera is a just a steal.
Just FYI it's tiny, more tiny than I was expecting. I'm 6' 5" with big hands, it took awhile to get used to. However, the benefit is the FG is light and compact enough to fit in any camera bag with the rest of your gear.
If you want a solid, affordable, and consistent SLR that has a small footprint, this is the one.Read full review

Pocket battleship for a beginner at film photography.
I have been using this camera for a week. This is a great system and a great beginner camera. It has full manual exposure with a great metering system. The camera is light and works well with the 50mm 1.8 lens. I can throw this in my back pack easily. It is so light.Read full review

Best contact automatic camera.
Nikon FG is the lightest compact camera with the fully automatic program mode and an additional with aperture priority and it’s also support automatic flash exposure with TTL metering. Ideal option for those who wants compact solution, easy to use for travel and street photography. In combination with the Nikon E series lenses it’s very portable set that you can take everywhere. Yes, it’s electronic camera which depends on battery but uses standard batteries and very cheap to buy even two camera bodies. Good option to start with film photography and compact travel companion. Works, great
Works great, so far! Clean and ready to use out of the box. I look forward to seeing how the image comes out, but the lens and shutter appear to be in good condition.

Excellent Camera To Learn On Or Rely On
Excellellent camera to learn on. Has all the functions and tools required for all styles of photography. I own 34 35mm film cameras. Two of which are FG's. They are loaded with film and used quite often. Bought one new when they came out. I have a wee bit of experience with them and that's why I keep using them. Always produces excellent images as long as the operator has basic knowledge of film photography.Read full review

Capable little film slr
The Nikon FG is a great little film camera. It was made in 1982. It is lightweight and has a lot of great features. The Nikon FG is an often overlooked camera in the Nikon lineup, and unfairly so. It is a very capable little camera and is great as a first camera for someone getting back into film as well as a backup camera for the professional. It takes great pictures and for well under $100 it should be in every collectors bag.Read full review
