Nikon went back to the drawing board for this Consumer offering, trying to institute many of the things they included in many of its Prosumer line. Though lacking the robust construct, with Titanium frames, and glass-filled outer shell, it does have many of the most widely-used functions of their big brothers without the hefty stickers. No it won't survive a lengthy fall, but hopefully you purchased the licensed Nikon strap, and don't go slinging your gear around. This bare-bones SLR won't leave you unhappy, unless you forgot to carry a spare battery along, as there is no manual operation available. The camera feels good, the shutter works, but the automatic focus is inoperable, you must focus by hand.
