Yes but
I bought this lens because of it's range. I wanted a lens that could go to 300 mm to take photos of birds and planes and boats. My wife's cousin has the same kind of camera but has a 70-210 lens which is much more expensive but is better. Am I happy with what I've got; to a point. The review's (kenrockwell) says it's not a true Nikon. I don't mind. It does what I want and isn't heavy. It's not so good in poor light but I didn't want to pay 3 times the price for a modest improvement. Read full review

its complicated
I have a Nikon F2 Photomic film camera and it is my favorite film camera.
I used several digital shirt pocket size cameras by Cannon and Kodak and Nikon . Loved to use them at work inspecting in areas i could not fit my head into and to collect photographic evidence of the problem being researched. Very few controls of options ..just push button and inspect to see if picture shows what you need .
This Digital d 7000 is so complicated i have yet to see a picture it has taken I bought two books explaining all the D 7000 settings.
What is the ASA of the image sensor . How can the aperture size be chosen manually if you do not know the ASA ?
This camera may be to advanced for this old man. Read full review

Good, practica lens!
I consider myself to be between the intermediate to Pro level, and decided to get this lens for portrait to close landscape shots. I wasn't sure how it would work however, after the first few sessions, I found it a very reliable lens. It provides with sharp images even in low light conditions. For those of us who are not willing to spend copious amounts of cash for something that we will probably use now and then, this lens is ideal and practical for the intermediate to pro type photographers, and excellent for beginners and photo enthusiasts level.Read full review

For the price
Easy to use with no lens no lens creep. Metal connecting shank. The lens is ED and therefore large. The lens is quite lite wt. From two rolls of film the images B/W appear very sharp. The contrast in the negs looks great but will have to wait till print them.Read full review

good value
Seems like an excellent value. Have only used it once and it workd well. Not as sharp as a $2000 lens of course , but it cost less than $100!

Great Kit Lens for Nikon
This is a great lens especially given the cost. Sharp pictures, lightweight and nice zoom range. I recommend highly and incredible value but make sure you get the VR version.
