Check for T2 or T3 motherboard for easier repairability

DISCLAIMER: might be a lil misinformed but i'm trying my best

As a Melee player, this controller will do you just as well as any other used official GameCube controller. Eventually, like all GameCube controllers, the potentiometers will experience PODE the longer you play with them. Used controllers may not have as much snapback as brand new controllers, so you might not get the misinputs you would get from snapback albeit with less consistent pivots. You play long enough, you might consider getting Noble/Panasonic potentiometer replacements/snapback modules, though if you're just getting into Melee, you won't need to shell out all that dough to learn the game and be good.

You'll find that Emerald Blue controllers will come with either a T2 or T3 motherboard. T3 motherboards have screw-in stickboxes as opposed to being soldered on with T2 motherboards, which make it easier for you to disassemble stickboxes, replace the spring inside the stickbox, replace it with another T3 stickbox, etc.

To check if the Emerald Blue controller is T3, check/ask for pictures of the back of the shell or of the controller motherboard. T3 Emerald Blues have a stamp on the back that reads CE• (CE dot). T3 stickboxes have white plastic housings compared to T2 stickboxes which are metallic and gray.

Some Emerald Blues like mine come with a metal piece in the trigger. It isn't guaranteed. I don't have a strong opinion about the metal piece, some like it, it doesn't make too much of a difference for me.

Colored GameCube controllers will yellow when exposed to UV light (sun). This controller turns from a bright blue to a dark green, and if you like the discolored color like I do, you may find suntanned Emerald Blues when searching 'discolored', 'emerald green', etc.

If you want more info. I suggest you visit gccontrollerlibrary dot com.

TLDR: check pictures, ask for pics if you don't see what you're looking for, just like any official gamecube controller

Great condition at reasonable price

Nintendo's Gamecube was an amazing console and the controllers are my favorite design by far. Each one is extremely durable, lightwieght, has good response time, and overall is off exceptional build quality. Having played melee competitively, where multiple buttons are inputted every second, this control has stood up and shows little to no sign of wear or usage. I did replace the joysticks, but that was mostly out of self desire and not necessity. If anything, opening the controller and cleaning it is the most you'll need to do to keep this controller in amazing condition.Read full review

Best controller.

I play competitive melee and this is easily one of the smoothest controllers i have ever used. Sheild drops are easy, dash dancing is fluid and smooth. The action of the L and R buttons is crisp. All in all this controller is fantastic. Highly reccomend.Read full review

Didn't even seem used

I refuse to believe this controller was used. Only one EXTREMELY small imperfection on the entire shell. The only noticeable wear was on the metal plug. All of the buttons were free from wear also.>Inside board was untouched, and no plastic from the inside of the controller was broken/rattling.
Made a great custom controllerRead full review

Money well spent

I was nervous doing this because "used" can mean all sorts of things. However, I look at my GC with love and adoration. It hardly shows any wear and tear or discoloration and the controls are quite responsive! I play Smash ultimate frequently and it's served me well so far. I'm happy to report that this was a successful purchase!Read full review

Is gud

It seems really good, my friend has a 1st party controller and this feels just like it and I'm pretty sure this is first party, but the Z button actually clicks like a regular button and the d-pad works a little too good for a game cube controller, even so I like it more and it is very responsive and has about the input time as any game cube controllerRead full review

Condition was amazing, and works very well was skeptical but couldn’t be happier. Has the most minor scraps and marks. Play competitive smash bros and has been performing amazing.

Good controller, bad pictures.

While the quality for a old GameCube controller is understandable, the pictures failed to show what exactly damaged or scratched but overall I’m happy with my purchase.
