This radio is reliable and has a full 5 Watts of power - I had cheap radios and they are just nothing compared to this one - its a quality brand Oricom - so i knew it would work in our business.

ROAD TRIP
Bought this kit for a 2 vehicle camping trip through to Uluru. Got great range (measured to 10kms) for vehicle-to-vehicle comms. The other vehicle had a fixed UHF unit. I was unsure if the magnetic antenna base would hold on over the rough outback roads we were planning to drive (e.g. Great Central Rd) - but it was rock solid, did not move at all - held on through everything, even oncoming roadtrain wind blast across the Nullarbor. The connecting cable (antenna to handheld unit) is nice and thin, about 2.5-3m long and is easy to feed in through vehicle door seals if temporary install required. Battery life was good, lasted over a day on full charge. Charge time was quick. Handheld unit is of good build quality, sold feel and easy to operate (e.g. Channel selection, features menu etc).
