Affordable, well made Octave Mandolin

This octave mandolin is well made and has a lovely tone. It arrived quickly from Romania with no problems.

I restrung it with D'Addario EJ81 Irish Bouzouki strings (11-40) as the originals were too light. I also fit a longer, wider bridge (with under-saddle piezo pickup) to spread the load of the heavier strings. The original was a Banjo bridge.

It holds tune very well and is a joy to play. I'm a mandolin and guitar player, I've had to learn some different chord shapes as I don't have the hand span to use all of the shapes I use on the smaller mandolin.

Compared to a guitar, it has a lower overall tone and works well when there isn't a bass player. I fitted a Fishman Presys pre-amp, which sounds great through an amp.

For my brother.

My brother plays guitar and is enjoying teaching himself to play this nice short scale octave. The sound is comparable to mine which is a Trinity TM-375 Bouzouki. I liked the sound of it on YouTube so much I purchased the same with EQ for myself. The stomach of the Bouzouki gives these instruments a hearty, deep sound that is so unique coupled of course with all natural woods.
