Good if you have the right expectations

I bought this as a super cheap replacement for a stolen camera. As I still had another m4:3 camera body, this was meant all along to be just a backup body. It is very capable and can be had for a pittance.

So if you're looking for the best super cheap camera you can find, the E-PL1 will certainly fit the bill. If you want just a backup body, it will do fine.

Perhaps the most important thing this model lacks is an articulated viewfinder screen. So shooting while holding the camera down low or up high is inconvenient. On the plus side, it has a built-in flash, unlike later models which have better built-in features but use an add-on flash.Read full review
