Panasonic DMR-EZ48V DVD Recorder

A Qualified Success

The DMR-EZ48V was purchased as a replacement unit. The old one broke down over a period of time and some un-finalized discs were unplayable in any other kind of recorder/player. The new machine works "better" than the old one, though, and I'm happy to have it. There are better recorders with more features, but the Panasonic has a good tuner, and the minor inconveniences of not being able to eject from the remote and navigate with less complexity are acceptable. Alls well that ends well after a shaky start!

It have some issues at first and I almost returned it but after awhile it started working. It could be because these units have some age on them and believe it or not if they are not used on a regular basis they tend to develop problems. Panasonic overall designs great products and once the VHS tape started playing the picture quality was great. Had some issues with the DVD side at first too but after working with it awhile it came to life with first rate video and sound.Read full review

Dubbing VHS to DVD

The unit performed very well. You have to allow the VHS time to complete a command before clicking the next command or else the unit locked up. I had to unplug the unit then allow it to reboot which it did without a problem. You need to get a remote if you don't have one. You have to be cautious about selecting SP for the DVD in order to record 2 hr. on the DVD at good quality. I liked the DUB button which issued instructions on what to do. DMR ez48v Digital Tuner DVD recorder

When I got it. It was really dirty & Dusty. I don`t know if it was setting on a shelf for a long time or not. It sometimes freezes up on me. I have to unplug it then plug it back in then it works again.
I have 3 of them two don`t work . Can not find anybody that can fix them in area.
Rockford IL area. I They don`t make them any more.
I don`t have cable. Just TV with Rabbit ear it works good.
I wish somebody would start making them VCR Digital for people that don`t have Cable.

Well worth it

This unit is really a God Send for the people who have precious memories on a Mini DV camcorder tape, VHS cassette, SD Card or USB storage and want to convert this to a DVD. I discovered that My tapes were old enough that they were starting to deteriorate and if I wanted to save the information on them I had to do it. For the most part; this unit is easy to use; though I'm sure there are many features I haven't discovered yet; but I did manage to transfer 20 tapes in two days. Read full review

ONE OF THE BETTER RECORDERS

THESE WORK GREAT. THEY DO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE DVD PORTION RECORDING BUT ONLY AFTER MANY HOURS OF USE. I DON'T KNOW IF THEY CAN BE FIXED OR IF IT IS WORTH IT. NEVER CHECKED. I HAVE OWNED 6. MAKING HOME MOVIES

It taking me a little while to get to use all features. I'm disappointed that the remote does not a a sepparet keys for VSH and DVD, because if I want to copy a VHS to DVD without comercials it takes a while to figured this out. My old machine had this feature. I could pause the DVD and switch to VSH and fast foward and then hit the DVD to continue to enter information on the DVD.
