Remote Phone Won't Connect With Main Unit

I wanted to use this phone to replace a broken remote phone for the Panasonic KX-TG9332. The phone is the correct model and type of phone. However, the phone returns "Error!" when I use the manual's add-a-remote-phone procedure. I first deactivated the old broken phone's, #2, connection from the main unit.
