Still the best personal finance software extant!
I've used Quicken since the days of MS-DOS, and it's still the best of the best. I use the Home & Business version so I can track my income and expenses from freelancing, and it makes bookkeeping a lot easier. Intuit had neglected its Quicken line for several years before selling it, and while it remains to be seen what the new owners do in the long term, Quicken remains the best option in personal finance software. However, I'm not crazy about subscription software, so I bought this to lock in an extra year of support before being forced to pay through the nose for a subscription. For thirty bucks, I got a fully licensed (LEGAL!) copy of the software that will be supported through April 30, 2020. That's a LOT cheaper than a subscription!
Installation was a breeze--very quick and not a single problem. From time to time, people report trouble when upgrading to a newer version, but that's only because they forget about one crucial step: the Mondo patch. If you're installing Quicken 2017 to upgrade from an older version, don't forget to go to the Quicken support site and download and install the Mondo patch update. Before you do anything else--before you even open the Quicken program the first time--you must install the Mondo patch. Don't open the program and use the automatic update feature; rather, manually install the Mondo patch. If you do, you won't have a problem. If you forget, you may have some trouble.

2017 version has some minor improvements from 2015 version
Intuit continues to use a brain-dead method of storing data, rather than use a real DBMS like MySQL. This makes the data somewhat suspect if you keep multiple years in the active file. The methods used to separate years are also quite unacceptable: export the old data to a different file, delete it from the main file, if you want to do a multi-year report you're screwed. At the VERY LEAST, they should make each file year based so that only perhaps the current and previous year are active but searches and reports can span many years.Read full review

I just now had the time to install this software.I have since uninstalled due to needing more time to spend on the install process. I tried a little bit but ran into a few problems along the way. So I cannot give a great review at this time. I installed on laptop because on my home PC it would not let me untill I uninstalled Quicken 98. Quicken Home & Business 2017 is a disaster
Quicken Home & Business 2017 is a disaster. Horrible installaion problems. I tried for a hour to install from the CD, and kept getting an error message. I called Quicken Help and the agent was on the phone with me over 2 hours and also kept getting error message. He gave up and said someone would call in 4 days to help. No one called. I called Help again, and was on the phone 40 minutes trying to get Help. I was told some one would call back in 2 days. Help called this time, and downloaded Quicken 2017. It too failed to install until Quicken downloaded a Quicken Mondo Patch. This time I was on the phone 1 hours 17 minutes. My PC is less than 1 year old running Windows 10. All this hassle after Quicken kept bugging me to “upgrade” to 2017.Read full review

Great price for a reason
The price was great at $30, which saved me at least $60 from what other versions were selling for. When it arrived it the disk had a generic volume license label, which wasn't part of the product description. It was surprising sine they show a picture of a commercial box, but the software loaded and installed just fine.Read full review

Easy tracking of finances
The product is as described. I am struggling to learn how to use it but that will come. It is an American version however and I would have preferred a Canadian version. I have used Quicken to track my checking and rental income and expenses, for 30+ years.
I was using the 2011 version until Windows 10 wouldnt let it work. The amaing thing I love about Quicken is that Everything I did in all the older versions of Quicken are pretty much in the same place and do what they always did.
In other words there is no learning curve.
If you want to track yur stocks and commit your data to the WWW its all there, but not required to use.
Its simple, intuitive, and customer support is excellent.

I have been using Quicken for years and this was an update. Although updates don't add anything that I really need they do allow me to read newer files. This version doesn't require a yearly fee. I will switch to another product when this version is no longer supported by Quicken.Read full review

Not Quick(en)
Looking for a small business database for payroll and asset tracking. This has no layout for that and assumes that you have everything tied to your bank. No way to make your own layout that I can see, plus you can't continue without a "real" bank account. What good is a program that does not offer the user to practice making a custom layout for their business.Read full review
