Straightforward industrial machine
Having completed a couple of sunbrella canvas projects I can say this machine handled it with ease - I recommend it to anyone needing a basic straight stitch solution. A couple of things I found 1) the machine is brand new but needed oiling before use - the manual points out a few places but it's pretty light on actual instruction. I ended up looking on YouTube how-to's as this machine is very similar to other models on the market (Sailrite has a great site with videos), and 2) it's likely that you'll need to keep an eye on adjustments after the first hour or two - the set-screw on my needle height adjustment slipped while going through 4 layers of canvas and it took me an hour to figure out why the bobbin timing was off and the machine wouldn't sew (again Sailrite's videos helped), and finally 3) the machine needs to break in before you can get a reliable "slow start"...I added a cheap $10 "300W lamp-dimmer" and set the slider at 90% to reduce the speed until the machine loosened up enough. All in all, a very solid machine and a very competitive price. I'm happy I made the purchase.Read full review

Well poop
This machine came packaged very well. I checked out a few you tube videos about the machine and took the advice to oil and run it out before trying to use it. It came with a sewing sample which seemed like a good demo of what it was capable of. The machine would not turn under it's own power until the oil started to soak through the metal to metal joints and connections. when it finally took off on its own the motor got very hot very quickly. Had to shut it down.. some inspection revealed a cam that was machined very rough. I used some light valve grinding compound on it and ran it until the machine started to show signs of freeing up. After which I drowned it with solvent and blew it out with compressed air.. Oiled the machine again and ran it for about 15 minutes under it's own power. I then threaded it up and it would sew ... a little.. The needle bar has enough play in it that the needle deflects quite easily and jams up the machine. I will say.. the clutch system.. which gets very poor reviews from competitors did work well and when a jam occurred it did keep the machine from destroying itself. since then I have used this machine to do some repair work on a couple of motorcycle seats and managed through them.. it struggles with anything heavier than light leather and vinyl.. and it still sounds like its self destructing.. Now for the confession.. I purchased this machine after watching a you tube video comparing this model to the Sailrite.. I have an old Chandler industrial straight stitch.. and wanted something that I could move around.. and I wanted the zig zag option for patching.. I will be giving this machine to a friend that wants to take it apart and square up the machining.. and as soon as my wallet heals up from this bad purchase.. I will be giving Sailrite a call.Read full review

Excellent value for a walking foot sewing machine.
This machine is a GREAT VALUE, but you get what you do get what you pay for. If you are looking at this you may have considered the LSZ-1? I am happy with this machine for the price. It does exactly what I need it to do and yes I am a sailor. It sews 2-4 layers of Sunbrella like it was cotton - Very Kewl! The manual is not very good but you can find better versions online. Over time it can be upgraded to use some of the accessories that come standard on the LSZ-1; just do the math first. I would recommend this machine to a friend that has experience with other sewing machines. If the manual was better I would have rated this product at 5 stars....Read full review

Good home use sewing machine
I don't plan on making my own clothes but for making my new boat canvas this machine works well. The reverse lever is a little stiff however that is easy to remember. Overall a good machine for the price.Read full review

Campers Tent Maker Mini Walking Foot Sewing Machine
I am doing my own upholstery work in my car and decided to buy this machine because it had a walking foot. I can't get a slow speed for precision work. It will only go fast. The option is to purchase a bigger balance wheel from Sailrite and then you need to purchase a Posi-Pin to go with the Power Plus wheel. This is about $110.00 or if you go with Sailrites monster ll wheel It will run you $125.00. If you buy the Monster ll and want the Optional Posi-Pin it will cost you a whopping $196.00. I have not ordered the bigger 84 tooth wheel yet and don't know how much it will actually slow the machine down. The standard wheel on the machine has 40 teeth so it should slow it down by half. This is way too much research, time and money to invest in this machine. I also get crooked top stitches no matter what tension settings I set. I have also timed the sewing machine and know more about sewing machines than I ever wanted to know. I should have the upholstery done by now but instead I'm looking in improving parts or upgrading with servo motor to reduce the speed before I start. I would rather spend a little more right from the start and then not worry about these mentioned problems. The machine is smaller than expected but it is called a mini.Read full review

Better than I expected, and Performed what I hoped it would.
The pros are; very durable and heavy steel frame construction. Works just as described in the posting on eBay. It will sew canvas, leather, and a combination of canvas and leather. Uses heavy duty thread and needles. and the walking foot mechanism works like a charm. and for the price this is an exceptional buy.
The only con is that it is a little lacking in torque. takes a little finesse to get it started with an excess thickness of material. I think a larger fly wheel would benefit this but this machine did what I needed it to do in making a marine canvas top.
It is a little challenging to figure out how to thread it based on the drawings, but with a little bit of study and trial and error, I was able to get it threaded and when threaded it worked great.Read full review

great value
Good strong machine. Had to change the electronic foot control pedal and adjust the height. There is no info for this machine so just go to Sailrite web site. This machine is almost an exact copy of their machine. You can find everything there for adjusting this machine. All in all very happy once you tweak the machine,Read full review

Motor lacking power
Motor can't start the machine by itself. Once running, it will sew OK. I removed the motor and installed it in a table that I already had with an adjustable servo motor. It now runs smoother and is much stronger. Before using for the first time, be sure to oil everywhere metal touches metal then run it for a while with no load. Re-oil and run it some more. Having some trouble with fit of some bobbins (Class 15). I ordered additional bobbin holders and new bobbins. Problem might be with the cheap bobbins. I'm going to try the plastic bobbins as they don't have joints where the bobbins were assembled.
Still, for the price, it will do the job.
Supplied bobbin case had a off-center center piece. Received new bobbin cases and bobbins. Machine runs great with no skipped stitches.
Talked with supplier and I don't need to replace the balance wheel to use a servo motor with rubber drive belt.Read full review

Great value for a startup machine
The REX607 strait stitch sewing machine is a great start up sewing machine. The only issue I have is that it is difficult to start slow it wants to go fast you have to pat the pedal to go slow then once it is going it will go slow. I am doing some awesome work with it.Read full review

Great machine!
This is a great machine. I had little problems in adjusting to this sewing machine from my home sewing machine. And it arrived much earlier than I expected it to. I am using it almost daily. Just keep it oiled as the directions say to. I will oil all gear parts about once per month. There is no on/off switch. It starts when you turn the wheel toward you and put the needle into the leather. Hold the upper thread and lightly press the foot pedal. You will get use to it easily. It will go through several thicknesses of leather pretty well. Thank you very much for a machine that has help me create beautiful items already.Read full review
