The whole point of this device is to hold a chisel straight so you can hone the edge evenly and straight. The device isn't square and it needs a lot of filing to to hold a tool square. You are far better to learn to hold a chisel or plane by hand than to buy this thing.Read full review

Honing guide that works

Many inexpensive honing guides require reshaping of one clamping side by filing a curve onto the clamping surface. This one has one perceived clamp face right out of the package and works just fine.

I found it easy to use, and it does a great job. After finding the angle you want tighten it up. Keep the pressure on the blade centered left to right. Now go to work.
