The cutter does cut some products a light chain link it could not cut thru. Pad locks would be the same issue. Manual cutters better suited for this project

Great Product

Bought this just to remove and old pad lock from a gate at our new home. Turns out it has a lot more uses, and sees a lot more use than I expected. Strong and sharp and powerful. Cut some bolts, locks and wire shelving so far and nothing has stopped its pinch yet.Read full review

I'd buy one again.

It bit into the bolt quite well. However, I found a key as I was working, so removed the lock without the tool.
I do plan to use it to cut a metal shelf to put a small barbeque on.
