all hail the bluetooth king
Before I talk about anything else I just want to address the elephant in the room. The case that these headphones come in is one of the worst headphone cases I've ever seen. It's SO bulky and ugly. Smells like a CD store (best part of the case imo). Don't get me wrong, this thing will protect your headphones. NOTHING will happen to them but this will also take up half your backpack space. Just cmon Shure do better.
But apart from the case these headphones are INCREDIBLE. I compared them against those 1000XM4's from Sony and the PCX 550-ii from Sennheiser and these are better sounding and more comfortable than both of those freaking COMBINED (the Sennheisers were definitely the most uncomfortable). They even fit my gargantuan head!! And the build quality on these things. The headband feels SO solid and the adjustable click feels so secure.
Another great feature of these headphones is physical buttons. No swipes or taps here. Clicks and switches ONLY. No more removing your headphones and accidentally brushing the touch surface of your headphones, pausing what you were watching. What? Was I gonna pause it anyway? Yeah but I want to do it ON PURPOSE. The button hardware could be more robust. The buttons feel just ok and the switch for switching on and off noise cancelling DEFINITELY could be better but I mean they do the trick.
The sound on these is superb as well. Leaps and bounds ahead of any bluetooth device I've ever listened to. And it also works with myriad bluetooth audio codecs not just AAC!
All in all these things are pretty great. They're solid and well made. A little on the heavy side but whatever. Give your neck a little workout 😂

Outstanding wireless headphones. Unparalleled even.
Best headset I've ever owned.
I've had most recently Sony, Sennheiser and Bowers & Wilkins flagship models.
The Shure Sonic 50 unit is far more balanced in sound, appropriately weighted, sturdy, and fits my egregiously large ears comfortably without feeling like putting my head in a vice. Can wear for hours comfortably. Dual BT connection is a plus. I can have the laptop and phone connected simultaneously to answer calls, automatically pause the laptop, then automatically resume playback when the call ends.
Only con I've experienced is while wearing a hat I came to max out the headband adjustment. One more increment of adj. length would be nice, but not critical. Read full review
