This item seems to kick off other USB items if they are plugged in and you plug another item in.
So in my case it ejects a hard drive when I plug another hard drive into a free port.

Overheats and malfunctions
I've owned this for less than a week and found that it overheats. And it has problems. Suddenly it will stop working for a second, and Windows assumes that I have unplugged it, so my laptop plays that sound. Then suddenly the device starts working again and Windows assumes that I plugged it back in. And it repeats this over and over again 5-10 times in a row. Then it starts working normally again for a few hours. Its annoying. So I just stopped using it.Read full review

It died in less than 3 months of use
Initially everything was OK, then it would intermittently not connect when laptop wakes up. A few tries and it would work again. Then one day it just refused to light on. No matter what I tried, several laptops, desktop, Win7, 8 or 10, USB3 or USB2 prort, it just doesn't show any signs of life.
