It works.
I saw some reviews that indicated it was difficult to set the time and alarm and that you'd better hold on to the instruction manual for reference. I never looked at the manual and set both the time and the alarm without a problem. You simply push and hold the time or alarm button and then push the minute or hour button until the display shows the time you want. Seems pretty standard to me. I bough this for my son as it's time for him to get a job and he is difficult to wake. His phone alarm was not waking him no matter what sound he was using. This alarm has worked every time. It's so chaotic that it makes our dog leave the room to seek safety. Money well spent.Read full review

Great w/ a few caveats.
Was glad to get this! As a chronic oversleeper, this impresses.
It's loud, customizable, easy to use/set up (although it's a little more involved than most alarm clocks).
I know this was originally meant to be used for the hard-of-hearing, but for those who are using this because they just can't wake up in the AM, here's some points to consider:
Positives:
1. The cord from the vibrating thing you put under your pillow to the alarm clock is at least four feet long--this is great, because you can place it far enough away from your bed that you can't just unplug it/snooze without having to get out of bed.
2) It is loud. I haven't tried the "regular" (as opposed to this "jr" version), but I've heard that that one is MUCH louder, and I believe that the vibrating thingy is stronger, too.
3) The variable brightness is great for those of us who are irritated by bright displays at night (and it doesn't affect the flashing light when the alarm goes off).
Negatives:
1) Most important: you CANNOT disable the snooze. You can configure its length, but you can still just easily keep hitting it ad infinitum (or easily turn off the alarm with a flick of a switch). If you could disable the snooze, it'd be pretty much perfect in my book.
2) Good battery backup, and retained basic settings (time, etc.) even w/o battery backup when I moved from one outlet to another.
3) The flashing lights when the alarm goes off could be much better--there is just one at the top. Not great.
4) Has a usb charging outlet, so you can charge your phone etc. while the phone is plugged in.
Great for the price! I might try to manually disable the snooze button DIY-style. Otherwise, great for my purposes (in tandem w/ my android, set up with an app that is extra loud and makes me run around and scan barcodes all over my house lol).Read full review

Awesome alarm clock.
I wish I had seen this alarm clock much sooner. I am 67 years old and have always since a young girl had problems waking to an alarm. I have tried just about everything. At one point in my life I even paid a service to call me and wake me. I used to joke and say I needed a clock that when the alarm went off it came out with a hammer and hit me on the head. This alarm clock is truly Sonic. Under the pillow is fine but I have an even better way. Set the vibrator disc in a metal cup. Talking about working your butt up, this clock does the job. Jr alarm is awesome too!
I had the sonic alarm clock Bomb which worked until I knocked off the night stand and caught it on the way to the floor. Alas! it refused to work again.
