Nice Sony receiver......nice price too!

I was looking to replace a 20 or more year old Technics receiver. I wanted a basic 2-channel one, & was comparing a Yamaha receiver with this Sony model, both were about the same price. What swung things in favor of the Sony was the phono input, which the Yamaha did not have. That was very important to me, as I will be using it for playing vinyl, CD's, & even tapes at times. The Bluetooth feature doesn't mean much to me, though maybe that'll change in the future....Anyway, very pleased with this receiver. It's easy to set up,& use. The remote is real nice, seems to have every function you could hope for. I think the only negative is the two big dials on the front of the receiver, one for volume, & one for input selecting, they look kind of awkward, & you're bound to use the remote instead of those 99% of the time, push buttons would've looked better, but that is a minor quibble. All in all, this is a solid unit at a very affordable price, very happy with it so far! Read full review

Fine for the money

I am used to high quality integrated amps from the 70's. This amp has acceptable sound, but it does not match them. But, at this price range, this would be expected.

I can't see how it has 100 watts per channel. My old 70's amp had 90 watts and it was a lot more powerful. It is strong, but not 100 watts strong IMO.

The volume control has a ton of friction in it. It's just silly how much force it takes to twist it. The electronic controls are something of a pain to use. The unit needs manual controls for tone and balance.......but that would cost more probably.

The display is smallish and hard to see.

TIP: The unit requires electronic adjustment for 6 ohm or 8 ohm (and up) speakers. I have 6 ohm speakers and the sound sure improved when I selected that.

Mine did not have English in the manual. I asked the outfit that sent it to me for an English manual and they said they did not have any. So, I just downloaded a PDF file from Sony, but I sure would rather have a paper one.

No AM in the radio.

Overall though, for the money, this unit is very good. I suggest using a good equalizer with it to get the best sound out of it.

Since I am used to the older stereo equipment, the DH190 takes some getting used to. I wish the speaker select would stay on the last-used setting after turning the receiver back on. A connection for an external antenna would be a big help as i live in a poor reception area. The volume knob feels as though it has extra drag that is not needed. That said, I am pleased overall with it. I bought it as a temporary replacement for my Marantz (being repaired) and it does what I need it to do. Read full review

Great sounding easy to use Bluetooth Receiver

The receiver is excellent. Bluetooth connects easily and sounds great. TV connects via RCA and sounds great. Same with other components. All connect via RCA (red and white). The FM is the only small drawback. The antenna connects via an odd little plug instead of wires or screws. Its ability to pull is stations is on the average side. I did not really het it for the FM. If FM is a big deal for you , you will need a location that has good reception.Read full review

Good receiver

This is a good receiver, and I am pleased. My only issue, which I think is similar for the more expensive Sony Receiver as well, is that the EQ is not readily accessible, and I think not a significant impact, but maybe not really needed since the sound really is good; thus, a really good product overall that I am plesed with. Works as advertised. Great price.

Functions as advertised. Beware that it only has one output port which limits you to one output for capturing audio. Great value for those looking to archive audio to digital or just replace a legacy receiver.Read full review

Fair price for an av receiver

Annoying that in bluetooth standby mode it incessantly blinks blue on startup and reconnects with your device. I'd prefer to choose on my device whether to connect before it does, guess my iPhone can't do that... this might be a complaint for my iPhone as much as a complaint about the receiver. I wish it would ask me if I wanted to connect to my iPhone at least, even if it can.

I just keep bluetooth off on my phone so its not a huge deal. However, in bluetooth standby mode, which is supposed to be convenient, if I have other devices I want to connect my iPhone to via bluetooth, once I turn bluetooth on on my phone, my receiver has to turn on and blink, and won't turn off until I shut it off or pair it with my iPhone.

Functions are fine, have it connected to Atrium 4 Outdoor speakers in my garage through the wall. They are new to me too so I haven't used them with other receivers but they get loud... sound fairly good with the speakers considering their price was relatively low. Quality? Not great, but good enough for me. I'd probably need to spend 3 times the price for a better sounding system notwithstanding a premium for surround sound.

Great value in a convenient nice sounding stereo.

This stereo receiver was perfect for our use. The Bluetooth works quickly and dependably and the unit makes music in our home very easy now. The remote is handy and overall this stereo is the best improvement we've made in our home for so little money. We added a set of Polk bookshelf speakers and the sound quality is very nice.Read full review
