Maybe the only light EDC light you'll ever need.
Day and night difference from the 2L-X, and just a little bigger. The HL-X has the larger head, but it will work for and an EDC light. The low setting still provides plenty of light, and the high setting throws very good light far down range. It is a popular weapons light for a reason, but hand held, it brings confidence and a smile. Of course, the brighter lights have a shorter runtime. The rechargeable 1860 battery is the way to go for most uses. If you want absolute confidence, go with fresh CR123 batteries. No regrets on this purchase. TOO HOT TO HOLD
I must have gotten a defective flashlight. Used it this evening (8/14/17) for over 3 minutes and it got so hot, it was uncomfortable to hold. Initially just used it on/off real quick while walking the dog but this time longer. This shouldn't have happened! Streamlight is supposed to be a quality flashlight and obviously not inexpensive! Overall Great Light. This is amazing at 1000 lumens. The ten tap programming is very nice and easy to use. It’s a big step up from 750 lumens.
Generally great light. Haven't had time to learn it's durability. Using the 10 tap programming, I've set mine to Low-Med-Hi. Battery life is decent for sure. A little too big for EDC in pants.

WOW, my favorite Streamlight hands down
I bought a Streamlight Pro Tac HL-4 recently and I am pleased with the brightness of the light, although it is a bit on the large side for pocket carry while I walk the dogs. So I bought the Streamlight Pro Tac HL-X hoping for a smaller and lighter flashlight that I can fit comfortably in my pocket... WOW, this light is perfect. And I can't believe that it is just as bright as my 2,200 lumen HL-4. I can't tell the difference in the brightness. Only that the HL-X (1,000 lumen) has a more focused spot light type beam and the HL-4 is more of a flood light. Good little flashlight although pricey
I'm very happy so far with the brightness of the light. I also like the battery life (purchased the rechargeable) they stay good and bright well over 5 hrs of runtime.
