This upgraded product is very efficient within its use. It has functions and operations that handsomley compliment it's standrad design. It's graphics are not over the edge, but unique enough to support smooth and accurate calculations, (which is the key factor when it boils down to a choice of calculation). Very good quality button's action

Not like the older TI-36 X Solar calculator I have been using since 2000. I was trying to get something to backup that calculator and this will do that but I don't know if I will ever need those extra lines in any of my work. The buttons as you push them do feel so much more quality like than many of the other brands of scientific calculators. I am very satisfied and think the price was very reasonable. Read full review

1. It has multiple lines
2. It does derivatives and integrals (usually only graphing calculators do that)
3. solves quadratic equations
4. has every constant under the sun
5. intuitive design/easy to use/learn
6. solar powered and has battery
7. so many more features I haven't even learned

TI-36X Pro Solar Best of the breed

As a math teacher for seven years, I highly recommend this calculator. It has capabilities If has features that many graphing calculators don't and is approved for most state tests. It is able to solve systems of equations, perform statistics, and help with integrals and derivatives. In short, it is one of the most cost effective calculators TI makes with the ability to help someone learn math. Students should probably learn to graph independently so even in this area the calc helps versus just showing students a picture they may or may not understand. Two thumbs up.Read full review

The TI-36X is a good all around scientific calculator with a well integrated interface.

What I Like

* This is the most advanced non-programmable Texas Instruments scientific calculator since the TI-68, and it's solar!
* The operation is integrated.
* Favorite features: table, calculus, text-based mathematical calculations, history is retained.

What I am not crazy about

* Only one key to access eight variables. I would have preferred an ALPHA key.

I know every in and out of this calculator and a lot of other calculators, and (in my opinion) it's the best non graphing calculator.
For engineering majors, take time to learn how to use it. It will greatly speed up how you do determinants, statistics problems, polar math, and much more.

Best non-graphic calculator I have ever had

The calculator is perfect function wise. It has everything I need. I specifically like the MathPrint function, because let's face it, writing every calculation like you would do it on paper is the best possible thing. My only problem with it is that it could be made out of slightly higher quality plastic. Not that it breaks easily, I dropped it once already and it doesn't have any problem. Also, as some other people said,that they think the silver colored buttons are a bad idea, because they can not see them properly, however I think they are just fine.Read full review
