Made a believer out of me
I love this controller. The touchpads feel really good with the haptic feedback, and Steam's built in customization tools are phenomenal. So far I haven't found a game that I couldn't easily play with a few controller tweaks.
I have back problems so sitting at a desk for a long time is hard for me. With this controller I can lounge around more comfortably and still be able to play any game that I want, even complex 4x and base building games. Love it.Read full review

Neat controller / could be better
Loading the controller configs submitted by other steam users isn't the easiest thing to do, but it does work if you keep at it... I think this is more of a steam interface issue. Also, because it lacks the right hand joystick you have to use a pad for view direction input and it can be very difficult when your used to console gaming with two joysticks.Read full review

Hard to play games with that require two joysticks for movement and direction.
Much easier to play games when there is a right joy stick like an xbox controller over the tough pad thing that it comes with. Very hard to play fps or adventure type games with such ask Fallout or Skyrim.Read full review

You'll either love it or hate it.
Buying a steam controller in 2021 isn't cheap. Valve no longer makes it and sold out the last of their stock years ago. It's also not a replacement for a gamepad, although it does work as one. No, it's actually a replacement for mouse and keyboard! There is a learning curve to it, but once you overcome that it is ideal for things like couch gaming on your PC, or to spare yourself the pain of carpal tunnel.
I bought this new to replace my old steam controller after failing to repair it myself. It is very durable and should last for years, but I already had it for years. If buying it for the first time, buy a used one and be prepared to spend a lot of time getting used to it. If you don't want it for emulating a mouse (which is what it is best at) save your money, there are cheaper options. But if you do want it for that, you have to commit to it. Play a wide range of games and spend time in each to master it. And most importantly, it works best when you create your own custom configuration. There are usually a lot of uploaded configs to give you a starting point, but you'll find yourself tweaking them to get the best use out of it.Read full review

Great controller especially for rheumatoid Arthritis
I own several controllers and this is the best one. It is much easier for me to use because I have rheumatoid arthritis and my hands/finger joints tend to hurt often. The right hand side of controller has a small track pad built-in and this feature is really great. And it does have so many customizable options which makes it even better for me.Read full review

Great customizable controller, but with a slight learning curve
It may not be easy to use for everybody straight out of the box -- it certainly has a learning curve. But once you get the hang of it, it is a wonderful controller. And by adding games to the Steam client (even non-Steam games), you usually can use it even if the game was not purchased on Steam -- I am using it on several GOG games that way. But what I really like about the controller is the enormous degree you can customize it for each game individually. It's a shame it seems they've discontinued it.Read full review

The Steam Controller Is Good but not yet Great.
A good product. You will need the USB Wi-Fi dongle, unless you really like playing when attached via a USB cable. The Steam Big Picture software is a little challenging to navigate. Like the "Support" button is where you go to test all the features of the controller. Not so easy to find. And Steam does not have a user manual for this controller. Beyond these deficiencies it is mostly intuitive in how to use the controller, but in other areas still needs some work.Read full review

Swag and stuff. Real good
The Steam Link lets me play my PC games in my other rooms as long as theres a Wi-Fi connection, or a ethernet cable running thru it.
It does have a slight amout of latency (input lag) due to it streaming your inputs from the Link to the PC you add it to. This product is worthwile for some spectical games or party games like Jackbox, but not so much for true gaming. Still awesome though Read full review

Awesome Tool, Hard to Learn
Great tool, difficult learning curve.
Only main problem with it is that a good number of games won't accept having multiple inputs come in for one player. This means if you have the analog stick set to give an analog stick input for the game, the right pad cannot be used for a mouse, it has to be a joystick. So you'll have to explore a multitude of configurations to find what you want for each game specifically.
But I find that the Steam software for the Steampad is superb at giving you a versatile tool to explore the many possibilities of the steampad for a lot of different games from shooters to RTS games even. You do have to acclimate yourself to it; but, it is invaluable for any PC gamer who has a couch and widescreen for their gaming setup.Read full review
