Improve your movie nights with a Yamaha home theatre pack

Bought this to replace an old Sony home theatre pac which cost 4 times as much as the Yamaha. Very easy set up with the LG smart tv. Simply turn it on and the tv speakers turn off and it comes on. Sound was pretty good through the small speakers but even better when I used the large Sony speakers which were still serviceable after 15 years. A bit disappointed that there was no DM port to connect my old iPod and no USB or wifi so limited to tv and radio and no short wave. For the sub $300 we paid for it the Yamaha system is great value and is way better sound than most tv speakers. Of course you have to run cables for the speakers which can be difficult especially for the rear but still way better than a cheap sound bar. Great for smaller rooms.Read full review

Surprisingly Good speakers, would recommend for a room set up.

Set these up in my room and they are actually really good speakers. Would recommend changing the settings for sound (press options button on remote - choose DSP/Surround - and then Change Program to “5ch stereo), you’ll thank me later.

My yamaha 5.1 home theatre system

Easy set up and the sound is great..not fantastic but I'm using a computer moniter through hdmi and it doesnt have arc(audio return channel),but it does play dolby digital 5.1 and dts 5.1..overall the yamaha surround system on budget wise is a great investment..the only con is the speaker wire that comes with it...long strand..you have to cut it length by length for each speaker..at the moment I'm really happy with my surround sound home theatre system...Read full review

Bad HDMI handling

The receiver overall is good. But Yamah's decision of using the latest HDMI standard doesn't workout at all time. The HDMI board of the receiver couldn't handle the HDMI signal if an old version of HDMI cable is used.Read full review
