This modem is known to have the defective Puma 6 chipset.

This hardware bug will cause latency problems, and will adversely affect gamers or other latency-dependent applications. This defect is the subject of a class-action lawsuit in California. Just google "SB6190 Puma 6 chipset" to find out more details.

There is great value in buying top of the line router from several years ago.
1 of 1 found this helpful This was a top of the line router back in 2010-2011. It's still a very good router, and certainly better than cheap routers you can buy in 2017 for around $60. If you can buy the E3000 used for around $20-$25 it's a great deal. I particularly like that this router model still has the activity lights on the front. So many routers these days have activity lights on the back, if they have them at all. This router also has an on/off switch, which most routers do not. It makes power cycling a little less of a hassle. I also suggest flashing this router with an alternate firmware like DD-WRT or Tomato.
