Not the latest, but still a very good camera and value
2 of 2 found this helpful The Canon EOS M5 is a very good mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. It solves some of the shortcomings of Canon's earlier M-series cameras, especially in having faster autofocus and a built-in electronic viewfinder. Canon color rendition is excellent, in my opinion, and the M5 continues that tradition. Image quality is very good to excellent The camera is surprisingly light, comfortable in the hand and its ergonomics suit me fine. The menu system takes some getting used to, but I've seen much, much worse.
The M5 is succeeded by two newer models, the EOS M6 and, just recently, the EOS M6 Mk. II. The used M5 body I bought is in very good shape and I consider its price fair at this point, making the camera a good value for what I paid. An add-on, external electronic viewfinder is available for the M6 and I think for the M6 Mk. II as well — as a pricey extra-cost option. That fact and my lack of interest in the M6 Mk. 11's 4K video capability are the main reasons I opted for a used M5.
