Doesn't Work With My Cards / Scratches Very Easily
This is a beautiful case but doesn't work for my cards, which are a custom-sized folding card. They get stuck the case, so it is useless to me. The case also is not built to be scratch resistant. The highly polished finish will not remain that way long.

Authentically hard Work to Season / Buy used if you can't handle the process of creating a black sand beach on your counter
Don't believe the nice lady on the YT video that suggests you pressure wash these things and that's it. HA! Not unless you like to believe you are picnicking on a black sand beach on the Big Island. That's only step 1...of like 10. Friends, be realistic. You are trying to create black sand from lava rock in your kitchen. When you rub rock on rock, you make sand and grit and stone powder. Even if you are using rice. I lift weights...and this made me work up a sweat.This worked for me, over a couple of days:
1) pressure wash for 5 minutes
2) grind rice 2-3 times
3) boil in salt / vinegar for 1 hour and then rinse
4) dry in the sun for many hours
5) scour inside / outside with wire brush
6) grind more rice, 2-3 times
7) NOTICE/FEEL your tecolote/pestle and the inside getting smoother! And less black specks!
8) boil again w/salt for 1 hr
9) dry in the sun for many hours
10) maybe a few finishing rice grinds, then on to
11) seasoning with garlic, pepper and oil if you're satisfied
I'm on step 9 after having the unit for a week and I can see good progress.
My tecolote (pounder) is a different colored lava source than the molcajete, but that's only apparent when they're wet. The tecolote is blacker lava, the molcajete comes from a volcanic source with MUCH more iron in it and is brownish when wet. I took advantage of a small natural depression in the lava on the rim and have accentuated it with some grinding energy, so I have a slight thumb rest for gripping the molcajete, which doubles as a pouring spout.
LASTLY - don't forget these things will scratch the heck out of your counters (and jewelry) so use a wood cutting board as a stand.

HIGH QUALITY, HEAVY, DURABLE, LONG LASTING INDEX CARDS!
I love these, they're perfect for making flashcards, speech notes, customer meeting notes, recipes, etc. - literally 1000 uses! I have struggled with finding good quality - LASTING - cards for several years. These are heavy enough that they will last. My other, "paper-thin" cards are getting tossed, right now. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
