Honing guide
Used the honing guide on a planer blade & various wood chisels Qty 5, from 25mm to 10mm, the results are:
1. I soon found my previous attempts to sharpen the planer blade and chisels were not good enough. Refer below
2. Tightening the planer blade in the honing guide was not too difficult and trying to ensure to keep the blade square to the whetstone a bit fiddly.
3. Tightening the chisels in the honing guide more fiddly, for 2 reasons, keeping chisel square and finding the appropriate angle to the whetstone.
4. Once tightened the blade and chisels were reasonably easy to sharpen through the various grit levels of whetstones I have 280 to 8,000.
5. I found the roller on the honing guide very good at its job, gliding over the whetstones and keeping good contact.
6. I would definitely buy another honing guide, it works well and as most things like this, practice makes perfect. And the planer blade and chisels are far more usable and sharper than I have ever had them.
In summary I would score the honing guide 7.5 out of 10.
