The Frighteners
This is a fun movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. I think it was Michael J. Fox's last movie before his diagnosis. The characters are played in "hammy" fashion so it's not really scary, even though this type of premise usually is reserved for horror flicks. There is also a good back story to the main character that ends up being resolved later in the movie. All in all, I consider "The Frighteners" a movie worth watching. I'm a little surprised that it hasn't developed a bit of a Halloween cult following.

One reviewer, when this movie came out, called it "E.T. with teeth."
It manages to combine the innocence of childhood, coming of age, terror and courage, all very effectively. I saw it at the theater and wanted to share it with friends, also see it again myself, so I bought it. I haven't watched it again yet, but will soon.
