Classic style at a very afforable price
My retro styled watch came with a very basic black strap. This watch needs a strap with some classic style and warm tones to match the gold colour scheme and I when I saw this strap I knew I had found The One.
This strap feels well made and looks much more expensive than it is.

An acquired taste that not everyone will "get"
Ah, the Komandirskie Classic line, or as I call them "The Watches That Time Forgot". Cold war memorabilia new in box with a guarantee.
There are quirks aplenty such as the manual winding and the lack of a quickset date ability. Then there is the styling. These Vostok watches will not be mistaken for any other brand on the market today,
They have their own style but only you can decide if you like it.
Stock pictures of this 819121 model do not do the dial justice. The pics make the dial look sort of beige. In truth it has a nice retro gold sheen. I chose this particular model because the dial lacked the usual militaria images that adorn other dials in the Komandirskie Classic line. The shiny gold coloured titanium nitride coating adds to the bling factor and hides the underlying brass case material, although the case back is stainless steel. If you want a subtle watch that does not attract attention then this one is not for you.
The 819121 is a military/field watch in parade dress and needs a traditional leather strap more stylish than the functional and durable but rough-around-the-edges supplied strap. With an 18mm lug width the choice of aftermarket straps is not as vast as if it were 20 or 22mm, but gems can be found.
This Komadirskie is a classic watch without buying something decades old, it only looks (and in a way, functions) decades old.

Good value, decent quality
2 of 2 found this helpful I bought this to replace an existing ~25 year old Tasman Mk2 which has worn well and I suspect has withstood at least one unauthorised entry attempt and still functions. As such it is a fairly old design.
The supplied Whitco dual 5-pin tumbler "Euro-profile" lock cylinder is fair quality and as supplied had reasonably aggressive bitting (not a bad thing). This cylinder can easily be substiuted to some other better (and of course more expensive) Euro-profile cylinder as long as you get one with the "lazy cam" operation.
As an old design the 5-pin cylinder does stick out from the handle assembly by about 9mm which can make the cylinder vulnerable to some force attacks.
No doubt there are better alternatives to this Whitco Tasman Mk2 but those alternatives come at a higher price, sometimes much higher.
