    A Guilty Pleasure!
CREATOR is a guilty pleasure, especially watching Peter Sellers chew the scenery. The plot is ridiculous and it has little touch to reality, but for pure entertainment - it works! The movie is filled with delicious vignettes - I loved the establishing scene where Prof. Sellers steals Student Spano from Prof. Stiers. Try it, you may find it a private pleasure.

A Rarely Seen View of the American West
In 1866 the 9th and 10th regiments are formed in the U.S. Cavalry, manned by white officers and black cavalrymen known to the Plains Indians as the Buffalo Soldiers. Those regiments produced a long list of Medal of Honor winners. Sergeant Rutledge was the [fictional] epitome of those men and they called him, Captain Buffalo. This movie coming near the end of John Ford's directing career and as "Cheyenne Autumn" touched on the genocide of the American Indians, "Sergeant Rutledge" touches on the experience of the Black Cavalry in the West. Both movies address darker western issues. This movie works on many different levels - as a murder mystery, a crime trial, and as an adventuresome Western. It is beautifully filmed in Monument Valley, as only Ford could do. Sergeant Rutledge is accused of raping and killing a young white woman and her father on his army post. This movie was made in 1960 and it reflects the racism of its time. Although Woody Strode stars as Sergeant Rutledge he is not given star billing (along with Jeffrey Hunter) and, in fact, is listed as "with" below a very minor character played by Binnie Barnes. While it is a bit stilted , as per the time it was made - it is entertaining and enlightening at the same time.

    Good Try!
Unfortunately by taking the format out of the store and by increasing the length of the show it diminishes the humor and the characters' development. However, it is always great to see the Grace Brothers Gang on more time.
