8LED 1000X 10MP USB Digital Microscope Endoscope Video Camera w/ Stand

USB 10 MP 1000X microscope.

This product is very easy to set up and use. But........the rack and pinion column on the stand is not the best way to move the camera up and down as it is too wobbly. I found that the image was clear and easy to see on a normal 19" monitor, and saving the image to a file and then blowing it up bigger was also quite good. 9 out of 10 for product usability and 10 out of 10 for product manufactured quality. There is a puzzle here too......it is rated at 1000 time magnification, but that is the puzzle too as a hair at .004" thickness appears to be 1" wide on the screen. In actual fact it is not 1000 times magnified only a bigger screen image and a bigger screen does not make the image itself more magnified just bigger and blowing it up on the screen loses resolution and makes it fuzzy. Overall, I would still recommend it as very good bang for the buck. I would recommend DIY making a better stand with smoother rack and pinion movement, or taking it apart at the rack movement and making a longer slide bearing mount on the column. This would be a worth while project for a person handy with construction as the camera is already a complete package. I think possibly a small linear rail with a wire drive would make this a good project.
